DIY Earth Day Party Ideas and Printable

Today I'm sharing some sweet and simple Earth Day party printables. The older my kids get, the more determined I am to not spend so much or waste so much when it comes to entertaining. I think you can have a BLISSful gorgeous gatheringย without spending a lot or taking up too much of your time and energy.

    Tomorrow is Earth Day!

I've heard some people say thatย it's Earth Week all week, and I like the idea of stretching out celebrations. We used to throw mini Earth Day playdate parties when the kids were tiny tots.ย While I absolutely adore throwing parties and going all out for my kids' birthdays (which is not as popular as they get older...I'll warn you now, moms of babies and toddlers), Earth Day celebrations should be super simple.

After all, it's about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, right?

Earth Day Party Ideas: DIY Recycled Paper Tassel Garland

    Decorations

When celebrating Earth Day, try to use items you already have on hand as much as possible. Or, purchase inexpensive items that your guests can reuse.ย

For example, the DIY tassel garland seen here is made from recycled school papers that my kids brought home. Get the full DIY tutorial on the blog in yesterday's post.

The framed chalkboard is something I already had on hand at home, but you can get something similar for less than $20 and, I can attest, it is something that you can reuse for many parties for years to come.

    Tablescape

    Earth Day Party Ideas Tablescape

A burlap table runner feels right at home at an Earth Day party, as do mini potted herbs used as a simple but elegant centerpiece.

I already had the table runner, but you can also use any table runner or tablecloth you already have on hand. I like to have solid white tablecloths as well as a few different patterned tablecloths to use regularly, instead of constantly buying the cheap plastic tablecloths that only get one use out of them before they go in the trash.

    Earth Day Party Centerpiece

    Party Favors

I found these adorable mini organic seed starters at Target in The One Spot section for just $1 each. You can find similar seed starter packets on Amazon. You can also make your own seed packets, or even use the mini potted herbs in the centerpiece as favors.

    Linens and tableware

    Earth Day Party Napkins

Cloth napkins are a no-brainer for an Earth Day party. The Home Bargains Plus Store has them in a wide variety of prints and patterns .

I also used VerTerra dinnerware plates and bamboo utensils. They're easy to dress up with coordinating washi tape that you may already have on hand.

Bamboo dinnerware and utensils are becoming more popular and can often be found in local stores and online. They're great because they are made from sustainable bamboo and areย compostable!

Earth Day food and drinks to serve

    • Green velvet cake
Green Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
    • closeup looking into a mason jar with super green smoothie on a blue background
      Healthy Super Green Smoothies
    • plate of matcha crinkle cookies
      Matcha Crinkle Cookies
    • Bowl of sliced cucumbers, julienned carrots, sesame seeds, and herbs on the side.
      Asian Carrot Cucumber Salad

For a casual gathering, I suggest keeping the food and drink as simple as the decor.

When it comes to food, think healthy, simple, fresh, and organic. Try one of these spring recipes:

    • Healthy Super Green Smoothies - these would be cute served in double shot glasses!
    • Banana Crumb Coffee Cake - an easy coffee cake to go with tea or coffee
    • Matcha Crinkle Cookies or Green Velvet Cake - green for Earth Day!
    • Instant Pot Mushroom and Peas Risotto
    • A beautiful Brunch Board

If you decide to serve some cocktails, consider one of these fun and festive drinks:

    • Tropical Rosรฉ Sangria
    • Raspberry Bellini
    • Champagne Margaritas
    • Raspberry Mimosas

Did you make any of these recipes? Don't forget to leave a 5-Star ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ rating and comment below letting us know which one you made and how it turned out. Thank you!

Earth Day Party Ideas: Word Search Printable by Urban Bliss

If you've read this blog for a while, you know that my kids and their friends love word searches. Because of this, I design themed word searches to go with almost every gathering that we host. Like this super funย Earth Day Word Search Printable.

You can download it once and print as many times as you like (for personal use only; not for resale or commercial use)! Just remember to reuse and/or recycle the paper afterward! :)

    More Earth Day activities

If you have kids coming over, you canย do some more educational, hands-on funย Earth Day activities, such as:

    • Plant indoor starter seeds.
    • Make a bird feeder (I'll be sharing how we make our own DIY bird feeders on the blog next Monday!)
    • You can save the DIY Recycled Paper Tassel Garland project for the actual party and have the kids help you make one.
    • Many city parks and recreation departments have organized tree planting parties.

        Awesome article (as always)!!!
I just wanted to say mention that Earth Day is over but our planet is still losing 15 billion trees each year.
Earth Day Network works to reforest the earth and build sustainable communities but we must all do our little bit, too!
        Keep those great blogs coming!!!

What a great idea! I have never heard of an Earth Day party, but it is definitely a reason to celebrate. :) Pinning and sharing! I think this is fantastic!

What cute ideas! My mom used to give flower starts as party favors at our birthday parties, and we loved that - it'd be a good option here, too.

Love this! Beautiful table setting and photos! The table runner is very cool, and those were my fave napkins from this spring's Hen House Linens line, too! The potted plants are so cute for decor and favors.

P.S. Pretty sure my blog post today started with the exact same opening line! Great minds! ;)

From my head, Annika! ;) Thanks so much. I use washi tape on everything (see the last few kids' birthday parties...I might overdo it with washi tape sometimes!), it's so versatile and adds pops of color!

I love the idea of mini potted herbs as decorative and functional (for guests to take back or me to use for eating later) thanks for sharing these simple but eco friendly ideas!

I think it also helps if you're hosting too, to have centerpieces that also function as favors...less for you to clean up at the end! :) Thanks, Pech!
