    Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Before you break out the modge podge, washi tape, and baking ingredients (and if you do, you're my kind of people!), you might want to hear what I found out teachers REALLY want.

Recently, I did an informal survey of teacher friends on Facebook, Twitter, and via email to see what gifts they truly use and appreciate, and which gifts they do not.

    Teacher Appreciate Gifts

Overwhelmingly, the most popular item teachers love to receive: gift cards. Gift cards for coffee shops like Starbucks, for office supply stores like Staples, Home Depot, and even Dollar Tree, and gift cards for large big box stores like Target. So don't feel like you're phoning it in with a gift card, folks: teachers really do appreciate these!

The second most popular item teachers stated they would love to receive from parents: handmade cards and letters from our children. These amazing teachers love and care for our children five days a week for six hours a day, and simple notes of appreciation from our kids help make them realize that their tireless, hard work is all worth it.

    What Do Teachers NOT Need?

The answers varied on this. Most of them said they really don't need another "Best Teacher" coffee mug, stuffed animals, and did I mention mugs? :) Some stated they really don't need more candy, although others stated they love to receive homemade treats from families that make their favorite sweet treats.

    Mother's Day, Too!

Although my surveys are completely unscientific, I also know firsthand that moms appreciate gift cards as much as teachers do.

So for this Teacher Appreciation Week AND week leading up to Mother's Day, I've designed a quartet of gift card holders that you can use for either occasion . . . and really, for ANY occasion, since I left out specific celebration wording to make them more versatile. Use them for birthdays, anniversaries, thank you gifts, or just because.

You can also shrink the designs in your printer or using any image manipulation software, then print out onto label sheets to create labels to stick onto your gifts!
