    🌟 Why this recipe works

These homemade spicy mango margaritas are:

    • easy to make using simple ingredients you can easily find in most grocery stores and liquor stores.
    • just the right balance of sweet and spicy.
    • light and refreshing.
    • the perfect cocktail to pair with so many different dishes!

    🥭 Ingredient notes

bowls of ingredients to make spicy mango margaritas.

Seven ingredients create the perfect balance of sweet and slightly spicy in a cool, refreshing tropical cocktail.

    • Mango - You can use fresh mangoes or frozen mango cubes. If using frozen, be sure to thaw out the cubes before using. I love the big tropical flavors that sweet mangoes bring to any cocktail!
    • Tequila - I find the best tequila to use for this cocktail is a Blanco Tequila.
    • Triple Sec - This is an orange-flavored liqueur that you can find in most liquor stores.
    • Mango Habanero Syrup - You can either make your own mango habañero simply syrup (see recipe card Notes for instructions). Or, you can buy mango habañero syrup online. Use more or less depending on your preferred spice level.
    • Lime juice - Fresh lime juice adds a citrus flavor that is a great complement to the fresh mango.
    • Chili powder salt rim - Chili powder and salt create the perfect combination of cocktail glass garnish around the rim of the glass to complement this delicious cocktail!

    Optional:

    • Add some fresh jalapeno slices as garnish and/or to the spicy margarita for an extra heat kick.
    • Add sliced mango as a garnish or to add more flavor to the cocktail.

    🍹Cocktail substitutions

    • Want a non-spicy mango habanero margarita? You can use mango nectar or mango juice (or even pineapple juice) without habañero if you don't like spicy drinks. The flavor will still be delicious!
    • No triple sec? No problem! Substitute it with Grand Marnier or Cointreau instead.

    ✅ Step-by-step instructions

The full list of ingredients and detailed instructions are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. Here's a quick photo step-by-step guide to help you make these yummy mango cocktails!

    👩🏻‍🍳 Recipe FAQs

two glasses of spicy mango margarita with lime slice garnish and chili powder salt rim.
What's the difference between mango nectar and mango syrup?

Mango nectar and mango syrup are two distinct products. Mango nectar is a beverage made from the pulp or puree of ripe mangoes. It typically contains water, mango puree or juice, sweeteners, and sometimes citric acid for flavor balance. Mango nectar has a smooth, slightly thick consistency similar to fruit juices and is commonly enjoyed as a refreshing drink on its own or used as a base for cocktails and mocktails.

On the other hand, mango syrup is a sweet liquid made by dissolving sugar in water infused with mango flavor. It is primarily used as a flavoring agent rather than a standalone beverage. Mango syrup is often thicker and more concentrated than mango nectar, with a rich, syrupy consistency. It is commonly used in various culinary applications, such as drizzling over pancakes, waffles, or desserts, flavoring iced teas or lemonades, and adding a tropical twist to cocktails or smoothies.

Can you make these cocktails ahead of time?

These spicy margaritas are best enjoyed right after they are made.
